Alcoa Pinjarra Residue Filtration Facility – Perth, Western Australia

WAY Electrical were engaged as a key partner in the EPC contract for the Alcoa Pinjarra Residue Filtration Facility. The Pinjarra facility design was based on the Kwinana facility which WAY completed the E&I installation for 2 years prior. Equipped with extensive experience of the facility WAY were able to add value and improve constructability and maintainability to the facility throughout the design and construction phases.

WAY Electrical was responsible for the complete site E&I installation of the facility which included a Filter Building with 6 Filter Presses to process the wet tailings and a material handling system comprising of Overland Conveyors, Trippers and a Mobile Stacking Bridge to stockpile the cake tailings.

Mt Cattlin Yield Optimisation Project – Western Australia

In April 2018 WAY Electrical were selected  to undertake Electrical and Instrumentation Installation on the Galaxy Resources MT Cattlin Lithium Plant Upgrade located only a few kilometres outside the town of Ravensthorpe in Western Australia’s Great Southern region.

Scope of work included all Electrical and Instrumentation associated with the new upgrade to plant including ore conveyor systems, crushing equipment, lighting and small power.

Inclusive of the above were numerous shutdowns involving strip out of redundant services, upgrading / modifying  MCC’s and VSD’s to accommodate new upgraded cabling for larger  loads required in  new portion whilst still  having the remaining  plant online during the construction phase . All completed on time and within budget.

Tropicana 6MW Ball Mill Project – Western Australia

WAY was chosen to undertake the electrical and instrumentation installation associated with Anglo Gold Ashanti’s new 6MW Ball Mill Installation located at the Tropicana Gold Mine site 350 kilometres ENE of Kalgoorlie on the edge of WA’s Great Victoria Desert.

The installation comprised of multiple areas of work including tie ins to existing operational plant areas. New HV reticulation was installed to supply the new transformer and the new 6MW Ball Mill.

Additionally to the main scope WAY carried out the installation of 2 x 11kV Clip 3 Phase Current Limiting devices to reduce the potential fault current on the main HV Switchboard. This work was carried effectively over short shutdown periods to reduce the risk to the operating plant whilst having 1 feeder operational from the site power station.

South Hedland Power Station, Western Australia

Tanami Expansion Project, Northern Territory

WAY Electrical were engaged by Newmont to execute the Electrical and Instrumentation scope on their Tanami Expansion Project which is in one of Australia’s most remote locations in the Tanami Desert Northern Territory.

The scope of work included electrical and instrumentation installation on numerous new facilities located amongst the existing plant including Switchrooms, a Secondary Mill and Pre-Leach Thickener, a Flocculant Plant, an additional Electrowinning Cell and Rectifier and Raw and Process Water pumps. It also included a Deslime plant which fed into the greenfields Tailings Filter Plant. To service the Tailings Filter Plant the overhead line was converted from 33kV to 3.3kV which included changeout of 2 pole top transformers and installation of a New Recloser. The overhead line scope also included the installation overhead fibre optic cabling.

Alcoa Filtration Facility – Perth, Western Australia

WAY was selected to undertake the electrical and instrumentation works associated with the new Kwinana Filtration Facility for Alcoa located at their Kwinana Residue Storage  site south of Perth Western Australia.

Works included supply and installation and commissioning of  all electrical , instrumentation and high voltage reticulation for the Primary Filter Building and Material handling conveyors on the project inclusive of all area lighting, CCTV  and  communication tie-ins to existing Alcoa facilities.

In addition WAY provided the expertise and experienced personnel in assistance in construction and commissioning  of the European made Spreader and Stacking systems incorporated by Alcoa on the project.

Roy Hill – Car Dumper – Port Hedland, Western Australia

In January 2015 WAY was selected to undertake electrical and instrumentation works for the Roy Hill Port Landside Rail Car Dumper situated in the North Western Australian Town of Port Hedland.

Scope of work included all electrical and instrumentation works associated with the car dumper and material handling apron feeders and conveyors. Inclusive of Switch room’s , Transformer’s , Area lighting, CCTV installation and Train/ Rail interface equipment.

Inclusive to this installation WAY were approached to undertake the complete HV Reticulation for the Port Landside originating from ROY HILL’s in House Power Station and the Area lighting consisting of 230+ 20 metre lighting towers , both of which stretched across the entire length of the Port Landside Project  approximately  15 Kilometres.

Installation works including 23,000 metres of 33Kv underground cable. 118,000 metres of LV/ Control and instrument cables associated with the Car Dumper. 40,000 metres of Fibre Optic Cable also installed and terminated. Works undertaken over a 6 month period.

Brockman Fuel Hub – Western Australia

WAY Electrical was contracted to carry out the electrical and instrumentation installation of RTIOs Brockman Fuel Hub located centrally in the Greater Brockman Region 80km east of Tom Price in the north west of Western Australia.

The project included a 16 carriage Rail Tanker Car unloading facility, 3 of 1 million litre diesel storage tanks, Road Tanker Loading facility, workshop facility and tie-ins to the existing infrastructure.

The scope of work included supply and installation of instruments and equipment such as Marshalling cabinets, Local control stations with integral full load isolators, Distribution boards, lighting towers and light fittings.

The installation encompassed all LV, control and instrumentation cabling and termination, complete fibre optic reticulation, Area and plant lighting, fire protection systems and commissioning of the installation.
