Obuasi Gold Mine – Ghana, West Africa

WAY Electrical was contracted to carry out a review of the instrument installation at the 23-year out Obuasi Gold Process Plant in Ghana, West Africa. As part of the review process WAY carried out an audit of the installed process plant instrumentation installation to varify compliance to current standards, availability of operational spares, reporting of instruments back to the plant control system, set-up and operation of instrument maintainance systems and personnel.

Once the audit was completed, WAY produced an inspection and calibration handbook complete with check sheets to be utilised by our Site Instrument Supervisors to assist with training the client’s instrument maintenance personnel. This training was carried out on-site in a custom-built instrument test and calibration facility manufactured by WAY at our Perth workshop.

On-site, the WAY supervisors worked with the client’s personnel to systematically work through all areas of the process plant to clean, upgrade and recommission the plant’s instrumentation to improve plant reliabilty, gold recovery and maintaince systems.
